EDITORIAL ABOUT SECURITY IN GENEVA

IT IS URGENT THAT GENEVA SWITZERLAND NOT BECOME LIKE ALL THE OTHER CITIES IN EUROPE. IT IS URGENT THAT LOW LEVEL CRIME BE CONTROLLED FAR BETTER BY A MUCH STRONGER POLICE.

THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS IS TO FUND THE GENEVA POLICE WITH A MUCH MORE IMPORTANT BUDGET. AND TO BUILD AT ONCE A PRISON THAT CAN TAKE IN 2000 PEOPLE AT A TIME IF NEED BE. IT IS VITAL THAT GENEVA HAVE CAMERAS (AS ARE NOW GREATLY REDUCING CRIME IN THE GENEVA TRAMS) THAT CAN FOLLOW THE ENGLISH MODEL OF CROWD CONTROL. GENEVA NEEDS MOST ALL TO HAVE ALL OF ITS POLICE STATIONSOPEN 24 HOURS UPON 24.

IT ALSO NEEDS A MORE SOPHISTICATED 117 HOTLINE - ONE WHICH WILL (AS PER THE UNITED STATES 911 EMERGENCY NUMBER) ALLOW FOR A FAR MORE ACCURATE AND CONSTANT AVAILABILITY. (IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE PRESENT 117 PHONE NUMBER CAN EASILY BE TAKEN OFFLINE WITH MASSIVE SAME TIME CALLING. THIS IS SOMETHING VERY DANGEROUS AS COMPUTERS CAN BE PROGRAMED FOR DIALING AND COULD TAKE DOWN THE 117 LINE - ALLOWING PER EXAMPLE THE TYPE OF VIOLENCE WE SAW DURING THE G8 TO GO WITHOUT A PART OF ITS COMMAND AND CONTROL). THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A TOURISM EMERGENCY NUMBER: ONE WITH PEOPLE WHO SPEAK 8 TO 10 LANGUAGES OPEN 24 HOURS.

MOST IMPORTANTLY GENEVA MUST FACE THE CANCER OF DRUG SELLING AND NOT BLAME OTHER POLITICAL PARTIES. ALL PARTIES MUST UNITE TO TRY AND BRING THIS UNDER CONTROL - TO TRY AND BRING GENEVA BACK TO HOW IT WAS 20 YEARS AGO.

THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE CHANGE IN THIS CITY IS TO FIGHT THE LOW LEVEL CRIME NOW BEFORE THE SMALL POCKETS OF "FAR WEST" TYPE UNCONTROLLED STREET PROSTITUTION AND LOW LEVEL DRUG SALES BECOME REALLY OUT OF CONTROL!

IT IS TIME TO STOP THE CRIME AND NOT LET GENEVA BECOME LIKE ANY OTHER CITY IN EUROPE; THIS WOULD BE A TRAGIC FATE.
